About the Temple
Mallappally Anikkattilamma Siva Parvathy temple is situated in Anicadu village, 4kms towards from Mallappally town in Pathanamthitta District. Here, Adiparasakthi Sivan and benign Parvathi with equal significance in one Sreekovil is one of the rarest of its kind in Kerala. Agnimahakalan and Agniyekshi are symbolized in these idols, each measuring about 4 ft and installed side by side. The demon-shaped Lord Siva (Kiratha) has bow and arrow in His arms and Parvathi has sword in Her hand. The temple, situated by the bank or river Manimala , is estimated to have come into existence around 1600 years ago during the early days of Edappally dynasty.
Apart from the Deities in the main Sreekovil,there are Lord Siva, Bhadra, Nagaraja, Rekshas and Yekshiamma in the sub-abodes in the courtyard. The ever-flowering Kanikonna in the courtyard of the temple gives flower-offerings everyday to the Lords in all seasons throughout the year.The yearly festival (Utsavam) is being celebrated for eight (8) days during the month of Kumbham (ME) concluding on the day of Pooram star which is believed to be the Devi’s birth day.
